Abstract: Lionel Casson was an academician at the New York University. His book “Libraries in the Ancient World” was published by Yale University in 2002 with renewed edition. The first edition of the book was published in 2001. The book has not been translated into Turkish yet. The author, who has studies on antiquity and maritime history, gives information about libraries from Antiquity to the Middle Ages in his book. He reviewed the libraries in terms of what they looked like, how their internal processes are, their collections, methods of acquisition and what services they offered.
