Abstract: | The Turkish economy is based on the agricultural economy. The agricultural sector comprises 18 % of GNP, 6 % of imports and 18 % of exports. 41 % of the total population in Turkey live in rural areas and, for instance, about 5 million people work in the horticultural sector at the various levels, such as production and processing. Processed or unprocessed agricultural products have an important share in Turkish exports. |
