Abstract: | 4-Phenyl-1-aryl-1H-imidazoles were reacted with alpha-haloesters and amides to give the corresponding imidazolium salts. The latter were used as starting materials for the synthesis of Pd(NHC) complexes. The catalytic activities of the newly prepared compounds were screened in a model coupling reaction. 1-Alkoxycarbony1-5-pheny1-3-ary1-3H-imidazol-1-yliden-Pd(II) were shown to be better catalyst than the 1-carbamoylmethy1-5-phenyl-3-aryl-3H-imidazol-1-yliden-Pd(II) complexes. The catalysts were shown to be insensitive to the air oxygen and water. |
