Abstract: Modified Theory of Physical Optics (MTPO), is an innovative method by which the scattering (reflected and edge diffracted) fields can be calculated. Method is based on the current densities which are induced on scattering and aperture surfaces, stationary phase method and edge-point technique. Moreover, by MTPO edge diffraction can be found whereas physical optics has some deficiencies for this point. In this study, diffracted fields from a black cylinder have been calculated by MTPO. The obtained results have been numerically evaluated and verified with literature.
