Efsane ve mitlerin işlevleri ve modern toplumdaki yansımaları: Sarıkız Efsanesi örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, mit ve efsanelerin işlevlerini ve modern toplumdaki yansımalarını modern toplumlardan bir örnek de sunarak incelemektir. İlk bölümde mit ve efsane kavramları tanımlanmış, onları etkileyen temalar ve bu kavramların etrafında gerçekleşen tartışmalar, değişen algılar tarihi sürecinde incelenmiştir. Ayrıca mit ve efsanelerin masal, menkıbe ve halk hikayesi gibi diğer anlatı türleriyle benzer ve farklı yönleri ortaya konulmuştur. İkinci bölümde mit ve efsanelerin işlevleri, birey ve toplum açısından önemi Joseph Campbell ve Mircea Eliade'ın eserleri temel alınarak ortaya koyulmuştur. Bunun yanında mit ve efsanelerin modern toplumdaki yansımaları incelenmiş, sinema, roman ve festivallerden örnekler verilmiştir.Üçüncü ve son bölümde ise örnek olay olarak Sarıkız Efsanesi incelenmiştir. Modern bir toplumda mitik bir kahramanın hikayesi etrafında gerçekleştirilen törenler, ritüeller ve inançlar incelenmiş, mitsel arka planıyla değerlendirilmiştir.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the theories of myth and legends, and their functions in society, taking the Sarıkız Legend as a case.In the first chapter the concept of myths and legends have been identified and historical processes and themes affecting them were investigated. The concepts of myth and legends are compared and contrasted with other similar aspects of the narrative form of legends. Based upon Mircea Eliade's and Joseph Campbell's Works, the second chapter analyzes the functions of myth and legend and its importance for the individual and society. The functions of legends and myths have been examined in the light of the contemporary situation by reference to, movies, novels and festivals as examples.In the third chapter, Sarıkız Legend was examined as a case study. Accordingly, it is concluded that myths and legends are as influential in modern society as they had been in pre-modern times as the Sarıkız Legend shows.
