Abstract: | This study deals with the selection process of the English Language Teaching courebooks at Anatolian High Schools Courseboks are one of the most important components of language teaching programmes and often they are seen one of the essential elements in the programme. They also serve as a syllabus in the classroom which the students and teachers follow. For that reason, coursebook decides what will happen in the curriculum in most cases. The aim of the study is to explore the factors that influence coursebok selection process at schools. The factors influenced coursebook selection process are examined under three main categories; namely, to explore the role of logistic, pedagogical and human factors in the decision making process. The participants of the study are ninety teachers who work at Anatolian High Schools in Edirne, two hundreds students of the Anatolian High Schools, ten school headmasters and the eight educational consultants. The data collection instruments are preferred as questionnaires and interviews since the researcher aims to explore the perspectives of the individuals who participated in the coursebook selection process in the education team. The interviews are employed to the teachers, students, consultants and school headmasters in order to investigate the factors contribute to decision making process at schools. The present study revealed that the factors examined under logistic factors were identified as essential features by the participants of the study. |
