Seyyid Hüseyin Nasr ve "Muhammad: Man of God" adlı eseri çerçevesinde siyere bakışı

Abstract

İslam’ın anlaşılması ve yaşanmasında çok önemli bir konumu olan Hz. Peygamber’in hayatını, söz ve davranışlarını tespit etmek ve aktarmak için sayısız eser yazılmıştır. Bu konuda oluşan literatür giderek gelişmiş, siyer haricinde yeni türlerin oluşumuyla birlikte muazzam bir seviyeye çıkmıştır. 19. yüzyılla birlikte Batıda meydana gelen düşünsel ve bilimsel değişimler İslam dünyasını da etkisi altına almıştır. Modern tarih telakkilerinin ve birtakım paradigmaların tesiri ile klasik döneme ait tarih kitapları ve muhtevaları sert bir eleştiriye tabi tutulmuştur. Modern dönemde siyere dair yazılan eserlerde peygamberin siyasi, askeri ve beşeri yönleri daha fazla öne çıkarılmaya başlamıştır. Buna mukabil onun peygamberlik yönü, vahiy ekseninde Allah ile arasındaki ruhi ve manevi yön ile ilahi koruma ve gözetimin onun hayatına yansımalarını içeren olağanüstülüklerin anlatıldığı rivayetler modern siyer eserlerinde yer bulamamışlardır. Seyyid Hüseyin Nasr, batı dillerinde Hz. Peygamber’in siyasi, askeri ve beşeri yönlerini anlatan çok sayıda eserin olduğunu fakat O’nun peygamberliğinin manevi yönünü ve hayatında cereyan eden olayların derin manalarını inceleyen çalışmaların az olduğu kanaatindedir. Nasr, bu eserde modern ve şüpheci zihinlerin tereddütler oluşturduğu hususları geleneksel İslam düşüncesi ışığında açıklamaya çalışmaktadır. Bu sayede ilk kaynaklara erişim imkanı olmayan genç okuyucu kitlesine geleneksel literatürden beslenen güncel bir peygamber sunumu yapmayı hedeflemiştir.

Numerous works have been written to identify and convey the life, words and behavior of the Prophet Muhammad whose important position is in understanding and living the religion. The literature on this subject has gradually developed and reached a tremendous level with the emergence of new genres other than sirah. Intellectual and scientific changes that took place in the West with the 19th century also affected the Islamic world. With the influence of modern historical assumptions and a number of paradigms, the history books and contents of the classical period have been subjected to harsh criticism. In the modern period, the political, military and human aspects of the prophet began to be brought to the fore. On the other hand, the narratives that describe the prophethood, the spiritual aspects of the revelation and the reflections of divine protection and surveillance on his life could not be found in the modern works. Seyyed Hossein Nasr think that there are already numerous historical studies of the Prophet in European languages devoted to him as statesman, military commander and human although works which bring out the spiritual significance of the Blessed Prophet and the inner meaning of the various episodes of his life are rare. Nasr wants to explain certain elements of this exemplary life which have been cast into doubt by the modernized, skeptical mind. He aims to address primarily to the young Muslim reader who has no access to the traditional sources and is yet in need of a traditional and at the same time contemporary presentation of the life of the Blessed Prophet.
