Doğa-kültür karşıtlığı bağlamında özgürlük sorunu

Abstract

Özgürlük sorunu felsefenin en temel ve kapsamlı sorunlarından biridir. Genellikle felsefe tarihinde özgürlük sorunu doğa ve kültür arasındaki karşıtlık aracılığıyla tartışılmıştır. Bu nedenle, doğa-kültür karşıtlığı, us ile beden ya da us ile özgürlük arasındaki karşıtlık olarak da karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu karşıtlığa karşın, geleneksel felsefede ve dinsel düşüncede us, özgür eylemin ve uygarlığın kaynağında bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada usu, insanın özgürlüğünün ya da özgür eylemiyle yaratmış olduğu toplumsal yaşamın, kültür ve uygarlığın kaynağında gören geleneksel görüş ile usun aynı zamanda insanın özgürlüğünü sınırlandırdığı düşüncesi eleştirel bir yaklaşımla karşılaştırılacaktır. Bu çalışmanın sonucuna göre, özgürlüğü olumlu yönüyle ele alan ilk görüş ve olumsuz yanıyla ele alan ikinci görüş de kendi içinde eksik ve çelişkili yanlar taşımaktadır. Oysa özgürlük, ussal ya da kültürel bir sınırlama ve baskı ile ortaya çıktığı kadar, ancak bu sınırlandırmanın aşılmasıyla olanaklıdır.

The problem of freedom is one of the most fundamental and comprehensive problems of philosophy. Generally, the problem of freedom is discussed through the opposition of nature and culture in the history of philosophy. For this reason, we encounter the opposition of culture-nature as the opposition of mind and body or the opposition of reason and freedom as well. In spite of that contradiction, according to traditional philosophy and religious thought reason is the source of free action and civilization. This study aims to critically compare the two main contradictory approaches of freedom. The traditional approach argues that reason is the basis of human freedom and the source of social life, culture and civilization. The second approach argues that reason or culture sets limits to human freedom. According to the results of this study both the first and positive approach and the second and negative approach to freedom are incomplete and contradictory within itselves. However, although freedom arises through reason constrain or cultural constraint, freedom is only possible by transcending this restriction.
