Iris Murdoch: Neden ahlâk ve metafizik?

Abstract

Metafiziğin felsefeden dışlandığı bir zamanda metafizikle ahlâk arasında güçlü bir bağ olduğunu öne süren Iris Murdoch, metafiziksel düşünceyi felsefeye yeniden dâhil etmeye çalışan çağdaş bir düşünür olarak ön plana çıkar. Bizim bu makalede cevabını bulmaya çalıştığımız temel sorular da işte bu bağlamda tezahür eder: Murdoch hangi felsefî gerekçelerle metafizikle ahlâk arasında bir münasebet olduğunu öne sürer? Metafizikle ahlâk arasında nasıl bir bağlantı söz konusudur? Murdoch’un ahlâk metafiziğinin Platon’un düşünceleriyle nasıl bir ilişkisi söz konusudur? İyi, Murdoch açısından ne anlama gelir? Bütün bu sorular bağlamında Murdoch’un ahlâk felsefesinin metafizikle olan münasebetini tetkik etmeyi amaçladığımız bu makalede metafiziksel düşünme formunun çağdaş koşullar içerisinde nasıl yeniden tecessüm edebileceği ortaya konmaya çalışılır. Böylelikle metafiziksel düşüncenin ahlâk felsefesi için nasıl bir önem taşıdığı müzakere konusu yapılır.

Iris Murdoch, who claimed that there is a strong bond between morality and metaphysics in a time when metapyhsics was excluded from philosophy, comes into prominence as a modern philosopher trying to incorporate metaphysical thinking into philosophy. In this article the basic questions that we are trying to find out their answers under this context are as follows: which philosophical justifications did Murdoch use to relate morality with Metaphysics? What kind of relationship is there between morality and metaphysics? What is the connection between Murdoch’s metaphysics of morality and Platon’s thoughts? What is the meaning of good from the point of view of Murdoch? In this study under the view point of all these questions we aim to find out how metaphysical thinking is embodied again in the contemporary philosophical conditions? Hence, we have tried to discuss the importance of metaphysical thought for moral philosophy.
