Abstract: In 9 patients, 10 flaps based on the dorsal branches of the digital artery from the dorsum of the proximal phalanx were used to cover tissue defects on the volar aspect of the fingers. Full-thickness skin grafts were applied to the donor defects. All flaps survived completely with no donor site morbidity. This flap appears to be an easy and reliable way of covering the flexor tendon, the digital nerve and the digital artery after contracture release or for skin defects on the volar surface of the proximal phalanx.
