Abstract: | Yüzey kaplamaları, demir ve çelik malzemelerin korozyondan korunmasında önemli rol oynamaktadır. Surface coatings play an important role in protecting iron and steel materials from corrosion. Within the scope of this thesis, the aim is to evaluate the chemical exposure of the selected workplace to determine and analyze the occupational health and safety (OHS) risks in surface painting establishments and provide solutions. The occupational and safety risks in this workplace and the hazards identified have been determined through observations. Based on the identified risks, it has been observed that open process tanks are the most hazardous part of workplaces where the surface coating is performed. Additionally, samples were taken from heavy metals and inorganic acids to determine the chemicals used in the surface coating process of this workplace and their exposure levels. These samples were analyzed, and gas measurements were conducted in the workplace. The exposure to heavy metals and inorganic acids in the workplace was found to be below the limit values set by our legislation. However, a chemical exposure value below the legal limit does not imply that the exposure is insignificant. Based on the observations, it has been determined that workers are exposed to chemicals not only through inhalation but also through skin contact and ingestion. Therefore, measures to reduce OHS risks and chemical exposure in workplaces where surface coatings are produced have been identified, and sector-specific checklists have been prepared to guide risk assessments in the surface coating sector. |
